The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived in New Delhi last night after his five day visit to China and Kazakhistan. Talking to reporters on board the special aircraft Dr. Singh described his visit to the two countries as fruitful. He said, the Chinese President Hu Jintao had assured him of steps to reduce trade imbalance with India. He said, the Chinese President conceded it is the duty of Beijing to reduce the trade imbalance. Dr. Singh said Defence exchanges with China will continue and work is in progress to set up a mechanism to address the irritants along the border as per the agreements reached earlier. He said that wide range of issues came up for discussion in the BRICS meeting and at meetings with the Presidents of Brazil, Russia and South Africa on the sidelines of the summit.
