PM receives warm welcome in Kabul; Terrorism, development issues to dominate talks

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Thursday arrived in Kabul on a two-day visit to Afghanistan during which he will discuss terrorism, regional development and ways to step up India's assistance to the war-torn country. Afghan President Hamid Karzai received Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in Kabul in a very warm manner. He said that Afghanistan was Dr. Singh's second home. Dr. Manmohan Singh responded by assuring the Afghan leader that India will stand by Afghanistan in thick and thin.Dr. Singh was also given a Ceremonial Reception at the Presidential Palace in kabul. At the reception in the Palace the Prime Minister re-affirmed India's solidarity with the people and government of Afghanistan.AIR correspondent reports, Dr. Singh is visiting Afghanistan after six years. His first visit was in 2005.
