Prime Minsiter Dr. Manmohan Singh today arrived on a 4- day long visit to Washington. He was accorded a red carpet welcome at the Andrews Air Force Base and was received at the Airport by Indian Ambassador to US Ms. Meera Shankar and other officials. About 100 children from Indian Community who had gathered at the Andrews Air Force Base with Tricolour in their hands waved at the Prime Minister as he was being received at the Air Base.<br/> The most significant part of the Prime Minister's trip to the US will of course be his one-on-one meeting with the President Barack Obama on Tuesday. For the first time they will discuss bilateral issues and possibilities of cooperation on key global issues including Pakistan, Afghanistan, terrorism, climate change and nuclear proliferation. <br/>The Prime Minister has indicated that he would seek a more liberal US technology transfer to India and an early implementation of the Indo-US nuclear deal.<br/> Dr Singh is the first foreign dignitary being hosted by President Barack Obama and it reflects the importance being given by the Obama Adminsitration to India.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent R.K. Raina reports from Washington that Dr. Singh has a hectic scheduled ahead of him . He will address the US Chamber of Commerce as well as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee . India and the US are expected to sign a pact on counter terrorism to strengthen cooperation against global terror during the four day visit of the Prime Minister. Pak sponsored terrorism against India and situation in Afghanistan are the issues which the Prime Minister would raise with Presidnet Obama during the bilateral delegation level talks. The visit of the Prime Minsiter is expected<br/>to further strenghten ties between the two countries.
