India has reiterated its commitment to partner reconstruction progress of Afghanistan. Addressing the joint session of Afghan Parliament in Kabul today the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said India favours the development plans at per the priority of Afghan people. Mentioning the strategic partnership that both countries entered yesterday, Dr. Singh proposed an India -Afghan friendship forum. Reminding that Afghan people have to solve their own problems without any foreign interference, the Prime Minister emphasized that top Asian countries and Central Asian Republic should come together for peace and prosperity in the region. He also suggested an Afghan framework for regional cooperation. Drawing attention to the sacrifices of Indian personnel in building Zaranj-Delaram highway, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that India wants to build more roads, more schools, more electricity generating capacity and more community activities to bridge the gap that still exists. Cautioning the Afghan people on terrorism, the Prime Minister urged them not to allow extremism to be fanned once again. Welcoming the Afghan national reconciliation process, Dr. Singh called it a novel enterprise. Our correspondent Manikant Thakur reports from Kabul that the Dr. Manmohan Singh is first foreign leader who has addressed the joint session of Afghan Parliament ever. Acknowledging this rare honour the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude.
