The Prime Minister has said that the country's economic performance in the last few years has been impressive. Dr Manmohan Singh said, the economy is poised to move to a trajectory of sustained high economic growth which is essential for fighting persistent poverty, hunger and disease that still afflicts millions of people. He was speaking after presenting the Prime Minister's Shram Awards for 2005, 2006 and 2007 in New Delhi on Wednesday. Dr Singh said, the Government is committed to creating conditions that will encourage individual initiatives and acquisition of new skills.
