PM pays tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi today led Parliamentarians in paying tribute to former Parliamentarian, Minister in the first cabinet post independence and founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary at the Parliament house.<br/><br/>Mr Modi along with Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha Prof P J Kurien, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Ananth Kumar, Kalraj Mishra, Ram Vilas Paswan, Hansraj Ahir, S S Ahluwalia, P Radhakrishnan, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, senior Member of Parliament L K Advani paid floral tributes at the portrait of Dr Mookerjee. <br/><br/>Earlier in the morning, Mr Modi today paid tributes Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee through twitter saying that the nation and the people remember Dr Mookerjee's rich contribution to India's history with pride.<br/><br/>Apart from being a political activist, Dr Mookerjee was also a barrister and academician. He also served as Minister for Industry and Supply in the first Cabinet post Independence. He founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951 which was re-formed as the Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP in 1980.
