PM pays tribute to Punjab Keshri Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to Punjab Keshri Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Lalaji was a visionary whose patriotism and ideals inspired many people. <br/><br/>To mark the birth anniversary, Culture and Tourism Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma today released a commemorative coin of Rs 150 and a circulation coin of Rs 10 on Lala Lajpat Rai in New Delhi.<br/> <br/>Ministry of Culture has been celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai. The Ministry had organized a function and an exhibition in Lala Lajpat Rai's memory in Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. <br/><br/>The Ministry has sanctioned 5 crore rupees for construction of an auditorium and Rs 3 crore for installation of Astroturf Flooring in Hockey Stadium at Lalaji's Birth Place. Government has released funds to Rastra Gaurava Samrakshna Parishath, Bengaluru (an NGO) for conducting 501 lectures in schools and colleges. <br/><br/>Five national seminars in Karnataka and one international seminar at New York have also been approved under the Commemoration. The Servants of the People Society, founded by Lalaji will bring out Hindi translation of 15 volumes of Collected Works of Lala Lajpat Rai. <br/><br/>Punjab National Bank, which was also founded by Lalaji has undertaken a variety of activities throughout the country, with special focus on Punjab.
