PM pays tribute to APJ Abdul Kalam on his 84th birth anniversary

Prime Mininster Narendra Modi paid his tribute to the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, on his 84th birth anniversary today. In his tweet, Mr Modi said the country slaute Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and celebrate his monumental achievement as a scientist, scholar and the president of India. He said the country fondly remember his passion for teaching and education. Mr Modi said Dr. Kalam is not with us but his thought, ideas vision for India live on forever. <br/><br/>Congress President Sonia Gandhi also paid tributes to former President Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his first posthumous birth anniversary. Mrs Gandhi describing him as one who drove India's scientific advancement, She also said, Dr Kalam's contributions will forever remain unparalleled.

PM pays tribute to APJ Abdul Kalam on his 84th birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the youth to follow the footsteps of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to transform the nation. Addressing a function to mark Dr Kalam's 84th birth anniversary in New Delhi today, Mr Modi said, there is a great scope for innovation in the country which can bring transformation in millions of lives. <br/><br/>He said, the young scientists should get inspired by the way shown by the former President. The Prime Minister mentioned several vital sectors where innovation is essential, including cyber-security, housing for all, river-inter linking, enhancing agricultural productivity and manufacturing. <br/><br/>Talking about Dr Kalam, the Prime Minister said, just after leaving the Presidency, Dr Kalam went to teach in a institution in Chennai. Mr Modi said, the former President was well-aware of the importance of nurturing future generations. The Prime Minister said that Dr. Kalam had not only risen himself from humble beginnings to the highest office in India, but had also built great institutions, virtually from scratch. Mr Modi said, while most people look for opportunities in life, Dr Kalam always sought fresh challenges to overcome. <br/><br/>Mr Modi also announced that the government has acquired land in Dr Kalam's birth place in Rameswaram to build memorial for the former president. On the occasion, the Prime Minister unveiled a statue of the former president and also inaugurated a photo exhibition on the life of Dr Kalam. A commemorative postal stamp was also released on the occasion.
