The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on his way to New York to participate in the 66th Session of the UN General assembly. He left New Delhi on Thursday on a six day visit. Setting the tone for deliberations, Dr. Singh called upon all countries to collectively address the multiple challenges the world is facing. The challenges include economic slowdown, terrorism and unrest in West Asia and North Africa. On the sidelines, he will hold bilateral meetings with the presidents of Iran, South Sudan and Sri Lanka, and the prime ministers of Japan and Nepal. Dr. Singh said in his departure statement that the Palestine question remains unresolved. The issue has emerged as a focus of discussion on the first day of deliberations. AIR correspondent reports that reforms in the United Nations Security Council are an important issue that will be taken up strongly by many world leaders in the General Assembly. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will address the UN General Assembly on Saturday.
