PM Office to power companies ; Sign fuel supply pacts with Coal India by next month end

The Prime Minister's Office, PMO has asked power companies to sign the fuel supply pacts with Coal India Ltd, CIL by end of next month, even if they don't have binding pacts for sale of electricity. Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Pulok Chatterjee yesterday convened a meeting to sort out issues impeding signing of Fuel Supply Agreements, FSAs between Coal India Limited and power producers. During the meeting, it was decided that by the end of November, the power companies should sign FSAs with CIL. FSAs can be signed with power companies having long-term and medium term Power Purchase Agreements, PPAs based on confirmation from Power Ministry that it is benefitting the consumers.
