PM nominates nine prominent persons from UP to carry forward his Swachh Bharat Mission drive

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nominated nine prominent persons from Uttar Pradesh to carry forward his Swachh Bharat Mission drive in the State. After digging earthen silted deposited at Assi Ghat on the bank of river Ganga he hoped that nominated persons would spare time to aware people for cleanliness.
AIR correspondent reports that Mr. Modi has nominated UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Cricketers Suresh Raina and Mohd Kaif, Bhojpuri Singer and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, Sufi Singer Kailash Kher, Sanskrit laureate Devi Prasad Dwivedi, Comedian Raju Srivastava, writer Manu Sharma and founder Chancellor of University for Blinds at Chitrakoot, Godman Swami Ram Bhadracharya to carry out his drive in the State. He hoped that these people not only devote time for the drive but also attract more people with the mission. Before, boarding the return flight to Delhi, Mr. Modi also visited the ashram of spiritual leader Shri Anandamayee Maa and the hospital situated inside the ashram. The proposed unveiling of a statue of Swami Vivekananda has been put off due to administrative hurdles.
AIR correspondent reports that the Mr. Modi`s visit to Assi Ghat was not formally announced but large number of people gathered there and greeted their MP with the chants of Har Har Mahadev. Mr Modi also performed Ganga pujan amidst of Vedic chants. He also toiled away about 15 minutes with spade to remove the silt at the Ghat. He said local non-government organisations have assured him for completing the cleaning at the Ghat within two months.

The Prime Minister also announced that transformation of Varanasi would be carried out. Addressing prominent citizens and intellectuals of the city Friday night, he assured them that in the process of development of the Varanasi its traditional image will be kept intact and heritage will be protected. He said Banaras Hindu University campus will be developed as totally Wi Fi campus and students of the University will be provided modern facilities. Reiterating his commitment for the development of city, he also announced that high-tech lighting system would be installed at banks of river Ganga to make Ganga Aarati more attractive and to promote tourism. He said drinking water system will be improved and separate toilets for boys and girls will be constructed at all schools across the district within a year. He said palace on Wheals train would also be introduced soon from New Delhi to Varanasi via Ayodhya and Allahabad. He also said that battery driven rickshaws would be introduced in the city for public transportation.

On first day of his visit Friday, Mr Modi laid foundation stone of Trade Facilitation Centre and Crafts Museum at Lalpur village under Sindhora block of Varanasi district. In another function, he announced to adopt Jayapur village under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. Mr. Modi also visited his Public Relation Office of his constituency and met about 20 people and listen their problems.
