PM Narendra Modi's Nepal visit will strengthen bond of friendship and deepen trust between the two countries: Nepal's Foreign Affairs Minister

Nepal says Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit will not only strengthen the close and cordial relationship between Nepal and India, but also will contribute towards expanding bilateral cooperation. Foreign Affairs Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey has said that the two-day official visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the invitation of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala beginning tomorrow will strengthen the bond of friendship and deepen the trust between the two countries.

The visit of the Prime Minister to Nepal is taking place after seventeen years and the capital Kathmandu is all spruced to receive Mr. Modi. The Pashupuapti Area Development Trust has also completed arrangements to receive Mr Modi for a special puja on Monday.

All the political leaders across the party line have been stressing the importance of the visit and have welcomed the initiative that the Modi Government has taken to strengthen ties with neighbours. Mr Modi's visit comes a week after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's visit in which the Nepal – India Joint Commission met after twenty three years.

The bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart Sushil Koirala will endorse the decision taken by the meeting. While Power Trade Agreement is on the cards, discussions are also on in signing Power Development Agreement for the 900 Megawatt Upper Karnali which is being developed by the Indian Company GMR.
