Mr Narendra Modi will become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Palestine when he reaches Ramallah this afternoon. Mr Modi, who stayed in the Jordanian capital Amman last night, will reach the Presidential Palace in Ramallah via helicopter. He will lay wreath at the tomb of Yasser Arafat before visiting the legendary Palestinian leader's museum which is also situated inside the Presidential complex.<br/> <br/>Mr Modi will later hold talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during which the entire gamut of bilateral relations will be discussed. A number of MoUs are also expected to be signed. The talks will be followed by a press statement by the two leaders after which Mr Modi will return to Amman and head to UAE, the penultimate leg of his three-leg tour. Our correspondent, covering the Prime Minister's visit to Ramallah, reports that trade between India and Palestine is channelised through Israel.<br/> <br/>The India-Palestine bilateral trade stands at around 40 million US dollars. Automotive spare parts, tourism, agro-products, textiles, fabrics and pharmaceuticals are some of the areas of interest to Indian manufacturers and exporters. Apart from strong political support to the Palestinian cause at bilateral and international levels, India has been extending various forms of economic assistance to Palestine.<br/><br/>India has supported the construction of Jawaharlal Nehru Library at the Al Azhar University in Gaza city and the Mahatma Gandhi Library-cum-Student Activity Centre at the Palestine Technical College at Deir Al Balah in the Gaza Strip. Two schools were also built in Palestine in 2015 through the aid provided by India. New Delhi has, so far, extended budgetary and project support of over 60 million dollars. Besides, Indian arts and culture, especially Bollywood movies, are very popular in this West Asian country.
