Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today accused the Congress-led UPA government of doing nothing in the national capital during its ten year long rule. He was addressing BJP's election rally for Delhi Assembly elections at Ramlila ground. Mr Modi said, it is surprising that many important projects were pending for clearance for years, in the city.
Mr. Modi said that his party would focus on development and reject the sectarian politics of cast and religion. He said his government has taken several steps to implement the pre-poll promises made in general elections. Saying that his government is committed for the development of the nation, he said, 11 crore accounts have been opened till January under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which is a clear sign that his government is pro-poor.
Mr Modi said, his government is working towards ensuring 24/7 power supply to the people of the Delhi. He said, revolutionary steps would be taken in different sectors to develop the city. He also thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir for reposing their faith in democracy and voting in large numbers.
Mr Narendra Modi said that by the year 2022, every slum dweller in the national capital would have his own house. He said he needs cooperation of people to fulfill this dream. He said, option of portability of electricity services will be provided in Delhi on the pattern of mobile phone services. Without naming the Aam Aadmi Party, Mr Modi said, their only agenda is spreading lies. He urged the people to vote for BJP with full majority in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Taking a dig at AAP convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, Mr Modi asked the people if they have ever seen a leader who himself says that he is an anarchist.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, party president Amit Shah claimed that since the new government came to power, inflation has come down significantly. Hitting out at the Aam Admi Party, Mr Shah said, that the party has created new record in telling lies. Mr Shah said, unlike AAP, BJP will fulfill all its promises to the people. He said, Narendra Modi government will leave no stone unturned to bring back black money stashed abroad. He, however, said, ringing back black money is a complex issue and international treaties coming in the way. He said, the Indian Army is giving befitting reply to Pakistan along the Line of Control. Mr Shah said, after BJP came to power, Pakistan violates ceasefire and starts firing but India retaliates with equal force. He said, if opposition thinks they can restrict the development of nation by hindering smooth functioning of Parliament then they are wrong.
Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said, NDA led government is committed for the development of the national capital. Mr Naidu urged voters of the city to vote for the BJP. He also accused former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from running away from the responsibility of administering the state by quitting the post.
Chief Ministers of Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra are attending the gathering which has been named as Abhinandan rally to felicitate them. Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Dr Harsh Vardhan are also present in the rally.
Delhi BJP has made elaborate arrangements to make the rally a success. The party has set a slogan of Ab Dilli Ki Bari Hai after its victories in the recently held assembly polls in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
Delhi Traffic Police have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth movement of vehicles in the city. Police has advised commuters going to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and ISBT to start early with sufficient time in hand for absorbing possible delays in the routes.
