Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi empowered every State of the North East to achieve newer heights. Addressing the DD Conclave – Resurgent North East, in Guwahati, Mr Sonowal said that Prime Minister has put the entire Ministry into action for the development of the region. He alleged that the Congress ruled North East for 60 years but they miserably failed to develop the region.<br />''<br />''The Union Minister underscored that the entire North East made tremendous progress in the last nine years. Referring to the MV Ganga Vilas river cruise, he said that connectivity is important for the development of Tourism. Mr. Sonowal noted that the North East has tremendous tourism potential and the Government is committed to exploring it. He also mentioned that this year's participation in the upcoming International Yoga Day will see increased numbers.<br />''<br />''While addressing another session, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that earlier North East had insurgency problems because of neglect by the earlier governments in North East but the Modi government had changed this perception. Mr. Rijiju added that most of the insurgent groups laid down arms which helped to bring peace to the region. He said that all Union Ministers are visiting the North East which proved the commitment of the Modi government. CEO Prasar Bharati Gaurav Dwivedi, Director General of DD News Priya Kumar among others attended the conclave.<br />
