Mr P M Nair, a Bihar cadre 1978 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as Director General, National Disaster Response Force and Civil Defence by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The appointment will be effective from the date of his taking over the charge of the post. He is due to retire on May 31, 2013.

Mr Nair is presently working as Special Director General, Central Reserve Police Force.
