India has high expectations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Japan visit beginning from tomorrow. Talking to media persons in New Delhi last evening, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said that the visit will explore new areas of co-operation in the field of infrastructure and cutting edge technology, among others between the two countries. He said, on the first leg of his 5 day long visit, the Prime Minister will visit Kyoto, the heritage city of Japan. Mr Modi will address a public event on Sunday and meet Governor and Mayor of the city. He will also visit Kobe University.
On the second leg of the visit, Modi will hold talks with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in Tokyo and several agreements are also likely to be signed. Modi will address a business meet and visit an elementary school also. He will call on the Japanese Emperor on the next day, among other engagements on 2nd of September. Replying to a question on civil nuclear deal with Japan, Akbaruddin said that the India is working on a satisfactory outcome.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh and other senior officials will accompany the Prime Minister. A business delegation will also visit Japan separately to boost trade and economic cooperation.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said today that India has a special place in his heart. In a tweet message , Abe said, he is looking forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to his country. Abe said that he is eagerly waiting for Modi's arrival in Kyoto this weekend. Abe said, Modi's first visit to Japan as Indian PM will add a new chapter to their strategic partnership. Abe also said that he will receive Modi in Kyoto on his arrival in Japan as a special gesture. He said, together both countries can do a lot for peace and prosperity in the world. Cooperation in the fields of defence, civil nuclear, infrastructure development and rare earth materials besides enhancing business ties will be high on the agenda of Modi's trip during which he travel to Japan's smart city Kyoto and capital Tokyo.
