PM Modi visiting INS Vikramaditya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting INS Vikramaditya, country's largest warship. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Navy Chief R K Dhowan accompany him. Mr Modi was given a ceremonial guard of honour on his arrival at the warship. Mr Modi will witness air power demonstration by Naval Aircraft, including MiG 29K, Sea Harriers and Sea King helicopters.

He will also watch high-speed manoeuvres by the western fleet ships, including aircraft carrier INS Viraat, Delhi-class destroyers and Talwar-class frigates. He is also scheduled to address officers and sailors of the Navy. AIR correspondent reports that the 44,500-tonne warship acquired from Russia was commissioned in the Navy in November last year by the then Defence Minister AK Antony.
