Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon farmers to cut down usage of Urea by 50 percent and promote drip irrigation to conserve water and soil. Speaking at a public function organised by Shri Kshetra Dharamstala Rural Development Project at Ujire in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, Prime Minister also called upon citizens to strengthen honesty by supporting cashless transaction. The Prime Minister asked Dharmadhikari Dr. Virendra Heggede to involve Women Self Help Groups in sea weed cultivation that will help generate revenue and at the same time conserve soil nutrients.<br/><br/>Mr Modi said, a few financial experts in Parliament had doubted the possibility of realising the goal of cashless transaction in the country but Dr. Virendra Heggede has proved them wrong by promoting cashless transaction among the self help groups. Appreciating the work of dharmadhikari in promoting healthcare, education, digital economy and skill development, the Prime Minister noted that Universities around the world need to study how religious institutions in the country have not only worked for spreading spiritualism but also work for serving the mankind. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister in Ujire symbolically distribute 12 lakh rupay debit cards and launched digitised cash less transaction facility for self help group members. He also launched campaign to preserve mother earth. Mr Modi informed that 57 thousand crore rupees leakage was plugged by the government by introducing direct benefit transfer system. He asked self help groups to register with G-E-M portal so that their products can be procured by central and state governments. He informed that 15 states have already enrolled in GEM and 40 thousand products of self help groups are available for procurement. He asked Karnataka State Government to also enroll in this scheme to help self help groups to earn revenue and reduce govenment's spending.
