Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for 16,700-crore rupees Navi Mumbai airport in Navi Mumbai today. The Navi Mumbai airport will have two parallel runways and will handle close to 80 flights an hour. It is expected to significantly ease the load of the congested Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, which handles over 900 flights a day. <br/><br/>City Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco), which is developing the new airport along with GVK Group, expects the first flight to take off in 2019. <br/><br/>Prime Minister will also inaugurate 'Magnetic Maharashtra' convergence summit in Mumbai. Mr Modi will also interact with CEOs and industry leaders besides attending a cultural event in Mumbai in the evening.
