Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 'Skill India campaign' tomorrow at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The function will begin at 4.00 pm simultaneously in 100 cities across the country. In all State capitals similar programmes are to be launched in collaboration with the State Governments with the involvement of CM/State Senior Ministers. <br/><br/>On this occasion, Meghalaya Skill Development Society will be organizing the programme under the theme, "Why Skill Development is necessary for the youth of Meghalaya?" in conformity with the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.<br/><br/>On the occasion, the Project Implementing Agencies, Meghalaya Skill Development Society and others will set up Information centres and also enroll youths for skill training in the venue. As part of the celebration the Society will host the various programmes in State Convention Centre in Shillong.<br/><br/>Ahead of the launch of NDA government's Skill India campaign, Railway Ministry and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry today signed an MoU to provide space, and manpower for skill training. The railways will provide space and manpower for carrying out of skill development programmes across the country. Speaking on the occasion, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu emphasised on the importance of skill development. Describing the signing of the MoU with the Railways as a momentous occasion, Skill Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said a massive skill training programme will be organised across the country.<br/><br/>The public transporter will provide unutilised and less-utilised spaces at stations, workshops, railway schools and training institutes for the skill development programmes in the country. It will also provide manpower to impart skill training on rail premises. The government has set a target of skilling over 40 crore people by 2022 under the new National Policy for Skill Development.
