Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today attend the BRICS summit being held at Xiamen in China. Mr Modi on the sidelines of the summit will also have bilateral meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Brazilian President Temer. <br/><br/>Welcome ceremony of the summit will be followed by a BRICS restricted session. It is expected that discussions during this session will focus on global economic situation and international economic governance, national security, development and other international and regional issues. <br/><br/>BRICS plenary session will also be held today where the leaders will discuss the practical cooperation for common development, people to people exchanges and cultural cooperation and institution building.<br/><br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that opening ceremony of BRICS Cultural Festival, BRICS Leaders' Dialogue with BRICS Business Council and Signing of documents Ceremony will also be held today. <br/><br/>The business forum of the summit has been opened with the address by the Chinese President Xi Jinping. In his address he shared his vision for the BRICS cooperation and said it will enter a second "golden decade" if the emerging-market countries work together to overcome the challenges of weak growth and threats to world peace.<br/><br/>Brazilian President Michel Temer and South African President Jacob Zuma were also present on the occasion.'<br/>'<br/>Host country China has invited five guest countries for the summit under its BRICS plus approach. They are Egypt, Kenya, Tajikistan, Mexico and Thailand. These countries will also participate in photo ops with BRICS leaders.''<br/>
