PM Modi to adress Global Conference on Climate Change in Paris

Prime Minister Natendra Modi will today launch India pavilion at le Bourget on the sidelines of Paris Climate change conference.<br/><br/>The prime minister would also launch a book 'Parampara' during the event. The book narrates the traditions of Indian culture in the conservation of environment. The book enlists many examples of optimal use of natural resources and provided an intriguing aspect of frugal living as part of Indian values and tradition. Prime Minister Mr Modi has emphasized on several forum on sustainable living and has said that checking climate change and global warming is everyone's responsibility.<br/><br/>A new digital initiative 'I forest ' is also displayed in the Indian Pavilion which shows problems of climate change and actions taken by the government in forms of action plans and intended nationally determined contributions (INDC) to the Paris climate action summit.<br/><br/>A quiz competition on climate issue are also organized at Indian pavilion. A beautiful waterfall showcasing India's initiatives on action taken to reduce carbon footprint is a major attraction of Indian pavilion.<br/><br/>Indian pavilion also showcases 50 short films on adaptation and mitigation initiatives taken by India to reduce the carbon emissions and control the global warming as part of its global responsibility.

PM Modi to adress Global Conference on Climate Change in Paris

The world conference on climate change is beginning in Paris today. The aim of the twelve- day climate change summit is to reach a landmark global deal on limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Paris last night to attend the conference. He will inaugurate the India pavilion today showcasing the country's harmony with nature, environment and commitment to mitigate climate change. Mr Modi will also jointly launch the India-mooted International Solar Alliance with French President Francois Hollande today.<br/><br/>A large number of Head of States and Governments along with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon are expected to be present at the launch of the International Solar Alliance. Mr Modi would join an estimated 150 Presidents, Prime Ministers and Head of States at the crucial climate summit also known as Conference of Parties,CoP-21. During his visit, he will also attend 'Mission Innovation' being hosted by US President Barack Obama. Prior to his departure, the Prime Minister said in his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat' that checking global warming is everyone's responsibility. His emphasis on the responsibility of all assumes significance as the developed world is trying to place greater onus on developing nations like India in the fight against climate change. India has been maintaining that the developed countries have been the major polluters over centuries and should assume greater role in fighting global warming by funding and transferring low-cost technology to developing nations. In a tweet yesterday, Mr Modi said that India will deliberate on crucial issues relating to environmental and climate change. During the conference, India's 25-member delegation will focus on Mr Modi's call for climate justice.<br/><br/>In total, 196 countries across the globe are participating in the summit. Paris climate conference will for the first time in over 20 years of UN negotiations, aim to achieve a legally binding universal agreement on climate, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2'C.<br/><br/>AIR special correspondent covering the summit reports that the summit will discuss the issue of low carbon emission by the developed and the developing countries to avoid catastrophic and irreversible impact on weather including drought, heat waves, fiercer storms and sea level rise. The summit is being organized in Le Bourget on the outskirts of Paris amidst tight and elaborate security in the backdrop of deadly 13/11 terror attacks on Paris in which 130 people were killed.
