PM Modi to address UN summit on sustainable development in New York

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address world leaders at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit today for the adoption of the post 2015 agenda in New York. Mr Modi's address is scheduled at 10.15 pm India time.<br/><br/>The three day summit beginning today is convened as a high level plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly. More than 150 world leaders are expected to attend the Summit. <br/><br/>After the summit, a new agenda, titled – Transforming our world: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, will be adopted. The agenda containing 17 goals will serve as the launch pad for action by the international community and by national governments to promote shared prosperity and well-being for all over the next 15 years. <br/><br/>On the second day of his visit to New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon. He will also have bi-lateral meetings with leaders of seven countries including Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Sweden, Jordan and Egypt.
