PM Modi to address joint session of US Congress in Washington tonight

Mr. Narendra Modi will be the first Indian Prime Minister in a decade to address a joint session of the US Congress tonight at Capitol Hill in Washington. Mr Modi was invited to address a joint session of the US Congress by Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Earlier, Prime Minister met President Obama at the White House and addressed the US India Business Council meet. Addressing the US India Business Council in Washington DC, Mr Modi said the present BJP led NDA government has taken several steps to stop corruption and ease of doing business in the country. <br/><br/>Saying that government is committed to continue opening up the defence sector, Mr Modi said the present government has taken major steps for accountable mechanism in banking sector. He said, many social security schemes have been introduced for the betterment of people including accident insurance scheme, life insurance and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, where seventy percent beneficiaries are women.<br/><br/>During his interaction with media, where President Obama was present, Mr Modi thanked him for extending support to India's bid for Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) and Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) membership. After his three day visit to US, Prime minister will leave for Mexico city on the last leg of his tour. <br/><br/>Bilateral trade and investment covering a broad spectrum, including space, energy, agriculture and science and technology, among others, will be on the table for discussions when Prime minister will be in Mexico city.

Bilateral trade and investment covering a broad spectrum, including space, energy, agriculture and science and technology, among others, will be on the table for discussions when Prime Minister will be in Mexico city.
