Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed the National Basketball Association's match in Mumbai as a historic day for sports in India and India-USA relations. In NBA's debut game in India, Indiana Pacers beat Sacramento Kings yesterday.  

In a series of tweets, Mr Modi congratulated both teams for a riveting contest and said this game was a treat for sports lovers. Mr Modi said the basketball is very popular among Indian youth and the NBA matches set the stage for greater linkages in sports.  

The Prime Minister expressed hope that more youngsters will pursue basketball and also contribute to the Fit India Movement.  

The NBA match was aimed at increasing the popularity of basketball in India.
