<span style="color: #222222;">Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a Virtual Summit with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc.<br />'' </span><br />'' The two leaders reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, discussions on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Post-pandemic economic revival was also on the agenda.  <br />'' <br />'' In his opening remarks, Mr Modi said, Vietnam is an important pillar of India's Act East Policy and vital partner of our Indo-Pacific Vision. He said, the relation between India and Vietnam are growing rapidly and spreading to new areas. The Prime Minister said, India looks at the ties with Vietnam with long-term and strategic perspective. He said, Indo-Vietnam cooperation can contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region region.<br />'' <br />'' The Prime Minister said, India and Vietnam have signed seven new agreements on areas such as defence, scientific research, nuclear and renewable energy, petrochemicals and other diverse subjects like cancer treatment.<br />'' <br />'' The Prime Minister said, next year both countries will be members of the UN Security Council and the cooperation in the global context will increase. He said, both nations will implement a Joint Vision Document 2021-23 which is a plan of action for bilateral engagement.<br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Modi expressed condolences on the loss of lives and property in central Vietnam due to floods and landslides and expressed hope that the aid sent by India will be helpful.<br />'' <br />''Later briefing media, Secretary (East) in MEA, Riva Ganguly Das said, both the Prime Ministers adopted a joint vision for peace, prosperity and people. She said, seven development Projects completed with Indian grant-in-aid assistance of 1.5 million dollars were handed over to Vietnam at the virtual summit. The Secretary said, both Prime Ministers also discussed closer engagement in dealing with traditional and non-traditional threats in cyber, maritime domain, terrorism, natural disasters, health security, water security and transnational crimes.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">She said, both leaders spoke of the importance of upholding the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, UNCLOS. Ms Das said, the Prime Minister also stressed that Code of Conduct negotiations on the South China Sea should not prejudice the interests of other countries in the region. She said, both Prime Ministers agreed to actively promote reform multilateralism to make international organizations including UNSC more representative and capable of dealing with current challenges. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Secretary said, Vietnam reiterated its strong support for the permanent membership of India in an expanded United Nations Security Council.  She said, India will conserve three more heritage sites in Vietnam. Replying to a media query, Ms Das said, India and Vietnam identified building reliable, efficient, resilient supply chains as an important part of post pandemic revival strategy. </span><br />
