Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned home after concluding his three-day visit to the Philippines capital Manila, where he participated in three major summits and held five bilateral meetings with world leaders. Yesterday, Prime Minister participated in the 15th East Asia Summit in Manila.<br/><br/>He welcomed the statements on 'Countering Ideological Challenges of Terrorism Narratives and Propaganda' and on 'Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism.' In his intervention in the Summit, Prime Minister shared the concerns expressed by other leaders over the situation in the Korean Peninsula. He shared the views calling for complete verification and irreversible denuclearization of the region. <br/><br/>Mr Modi pointed out that North Korea's proliferation links must be investigated and the parties are held accounted who have supported the unlawful programmes. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of safe, secure and free navigation in the Indo-Pacific Region and called for paying respect to the UN Convention on the Law of the Seas. The role of blue water economy in the region has also been stressed in the East Asia Summit by the leaders of the forum. <br/><br/>Later in his address in the 15th ASEAN-India Summit, Mr Modi called for intensified cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the leaders of all ASEAN nations to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit being planned in Delhi on the 25th of January next year. <br/><br/>He also extended his invitation for the ASEAN Leaders to be the chief guests in the Republic Day celebrations the next day. Secretary East of the MEA, Preeti Saran, has said, all the ASEAN leaders accepted Prime Minister's invitation.In the leaders meeting of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership or RCEP, Mr Modi stressed the need for a balanced outcome on goods, services and investment under its framework. <br/>RCEP is an idea similar to the free trade agreement, being floated to improve trade and commerce between the member states. Its members include the ten ASEAN nations and six of its dialogue partners – India, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand.<br/><br/>Prime Minister held bilateral talks with leaders of Australia, Vietnam, Japan, Brunei and New Zealand in Manila yesterday. The meetings were held on the sidelines of the ASEAN-India Summit. He discussed with them bilateral cooperation covering a broad range of areas including the strengthening of comprehensive strategic partnership.
