PM Modi says, Govt believes in reforms not out of compulsion but out of conviction; Terms President Murmu's address to Joint Sitting of both Houses of Parliament visionary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today that his Government has taken many decisions in the national interest and there is positivity towards India among other countries. He said, these reforms are made out of conviction and not compulsion. Highlighting that his Government's priority is to work for the welfare of deprived, poor, tribals, the Prime Minister said that the world is looking towards India with great hope and positivity as the country's credibility, potential and opportunities have increased significantly in recent years. Mr. Modi said that India is witnessing political stability as it has a decisive government.<br />''<br />''Replying to the discussion in Lok Sabha on Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu's address to the Joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament, Mr. Modi termed the President's address visionary. He said, the President has given direction to the nation and the country is now filled with self-confidence and pride.<br />''<br />''Mr. Modi mentioned that he has given every moment of his life for the people of the country. He came down heavily on Congress and described 2004 to 2014 as a lost decade. He said, during the period a series of scams and incidents of terrorism had devastated the country. He said, the Indian economy was in a bad condition and inflation reached double digits during the UPA regime. The Prime Minister underlined that vote bank politics harmed the country and delayed India's development and the middle class was ignored but the NDA government provided them protection. He alleged that the Opposition wasted the last nine years in making allegations and compulsive criticism replaced constructive criticism in this period.<br />''Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the trust of crores of people is his protective shield and it cannot be breached by abuses and allegations. In an apparent reference to the Opposition's allegations against him, Mr. Modi said, people's trust in him is not due to newspaper headlines or TV visuals but due to his years of dedication.<br />''<br />''Referring to the Opposition's allegations of misusing central agencies, Mr. Modi took a dig at them saying ED has brought all Opposition parties together on one platform and it has done what the electorate could not do.  He alleged that if probe agencies act against graft they attack them.<br />''<br />''Listing out government welfare measures,  Prime Minister Modi said, India has become the fifth largest economy in the world despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, instability and conflicts, rising inflation and unemployment in several countries elsewhere in the world. He said, India's presidency of G-20 is a moment of pride for the country. On the country's growing digital infrastructure and technological prowess, Mr. Modi said, India is emerging as a manufacturing hub. He said, the country has emerged as the world's third-largest start-up ecosystem and has more than 90 thousand start-ups. He said, the country has made stupendous growth in various sectors including mobile manufacturing, domestic air travel, energy consumption, renewable energy and sports.<br />''<br />''The Prime Minister further said that under the NDA rule, Jammu Kashmir is also witnessing an era of peace and stability after many decades. He said a record number of tourists have visited the Kashmir valley in the past few years. Mr Modi said, in the North East as well, the situation has improved drastically.  The Prime Minister termed the President's address visionary and said it has given direction to the nation and the country is now filled with self-confidence and pride.  Earlier during the Prime Minister's speech, Congress members staged a brief walkout from the House. The House also witnessed heated arguments between the Treasury and opposition benches.<br />''<br />''Later, the House adopted the Motion of Thanks on the President's address with a voice vote.<br />
