PM Modi ready to enchant Indian diaspora in Sydney

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Sydney today on the seventh day of his three nation and multi city tour. He arrived in the Harbour city this morning from Brisbane after attending G-20 summit. The Prime Minister was received by the President of Legislative Council of New South Wales, Ton Harvin. Mr Modi will be attending Indian community reception being hosted by Indian High Commissioner, Biren Nanda. Premier of New South Wales, Mike Baird will call on him. Mr Modi will also meet Australian political leaders.
In the evening, the Prime Minister will address the Indian community at Allphones Arena indoor stadium of Olympic park in Sydney.

People are queuing up outside the stadium's gate to find out suitable place so that they could listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister's main engagement begins tomorrow at Canberra where he will address Australian Parliament and also hold bilateral talks with his counterpart Tony Abott. Some agreements are expected to be signed after the meeting.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Syed Akbaruddin today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's engagements today and tomorrow, will be part of a multi-layered diplomacy. Speaking to a news agency in Sydney, Mr Akbaruddin said that government to government discussion will take place tomorrow. He said that after the Prime Minister spoke in G-20 summit, there is a sense of great interest in India and Mr Modi was able to reinvigorate India economically, and its place in the world.

Earlier, the Prime Minister invited Australian businessmen to participate in India's ambitious plans for smart cities to cater its growing urban population. Addressing the business community at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Premier of Queensland this morning, Mr Modi said, India had launched Make in India as a new mission to promote manufacturing in India.

He said, it is expected that nearly eleven per cent of the world's urban population in 2025 will be in India.
The Prime Minister said, Queensland can be an important partner in India's development in the area of energy, mineral resources, agriculture, education, skill development and food security.

He said, India wants an integrated partnership in joint research to improve yield and farm productivity. This will help develop agriculture supply, chain infrastructure and food processing.

Mr Modi said, India-Australia relationship is comprehensive, involving economic cooperation, a growing security and strategic partnership and increasing cooperation in international forums, which are vital for peace, stability and prosperity.
