PM Modi reaches Dublin, to hold bilateral talks with Irish counterpart

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Irish capital Dublin. The Prime Minister who left from New Delhi on a week-long official visit to Ireland and the United States in the early hours today is on a brief day-long visit to Ireland. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister will shortly hold bilateral talks with his Irish counterpart Endy Kenny on bilateral issues, including increased cooperation in the fields of trade and commerce, science & technology, agriculture and education. The talks will culminate with issue of press statements by both leaders. <br/><br/>Later, Mr Narendra Modi will address the Indian community and nearly 2,000 Indians including businessmen, professional and students are expected to take part in the event.<br/><br/>Later, Mr Modi will depart for New York wrapping up his brief visit to Ireland. Mr. Modi is first Indian Prime Minister to visit Ireland in the last 60 years.

During his brief stay in Dublin, the Prime Minister will hold talks with his Irish counterpart on several bilateral matters including trade and commerce. Issues related to increased cooperation in the fields of science & technology, agriculture and education will also be discussed. <br/><br/>In addition, international issues like reforms in the United Nations, developments in the European Union, climate change are also expected to come up for discussion between the two leaders. The talks will culminate with issue of press statements by both leaders. Later, Mr Narendra Modi will address the Indian community and nearly 2000 Indians including businessmen, professional and students are expected to take part in the event. Later, Mr Modi will depart for New York wrapping up his brief visit to Ireland.<br/><br/>Indian Ambassador to Ireland, Radhika Lal Lokesh said though there is no formal signing of any agreements during the Prime Minister's visit, both the leaders will push forward the discussions on the proposed agreements in the fields of education, agriculture and science & technology.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Indian businessmen in Ireland are hoping that the Prime Minister's visit to pave way for enhanced mutual cooperation in the field of trade and commerce. <br/><br/>Ms Neelakanthi Ford, Chairperson, Ireland India Business Association said that the Prime Minister's visit will help to take trade volume between the two countries to higher level.<br/><br/>IT professional Vekatesh Priyadarshi who moved to Ireland in 2007 said that Ireland is also interested to become a partner in India's infrastructure and IT projects.<br/><br/><br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and his Irish counterpart in Dublin are expected to cover a gamut of issues of mutual importance. India, as the fastest growing economy and Ireland , as a member of European Union can reach win-win situation if they synergise their efforts in all fields, particularly trade and commerce.<br/><br/>Both countries have much in store to capitalize on each other's strengths. The make in India campaign is catching up among Irish Businessmen and similarly Indian businessmen are finding opportunities in Ireland. The e-visa facility extended to Ireland by India and common visa for Britain and Ireland have already paced up people-to people contacts in both countries. The Prime Minister's visit to this small island nation of 4.5 million people is expected to open a new chapter in Indo-Irish relations.
