Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today promised several initiatives and steps if his party is voted to power in Delhi. Kick starting BJP's poll campaign for Delhi Assembly elections, Mr Modi said, his government is working towards ensuring 24/7 power supply to the people of the city. Mr Modi said, option of portability of electricity services will be provided in Delhi on the pattern of mobile phone services.
He said, revolutionary steps would be taken in different sectors to develop it. Mr Narendra Modi said, by 2022, every slum dweller in the national capital will have his own house. He said he needs cooperation of people to fulfill this dream. The Prime Minister also rejected the sectarian politics of caste and religion. He also promised to usher in a corruption-free system, saying it has been started at the top and gradually it will reach down to colonies.
Accusing the Aam Aadmi party leader Arvind Kejriwal of being an anarchist, he urged the voters to punish Mr Kejriwal for wasting one year. Mr Modi said if the AAP leader wants to be an anarchist as he has claimed to be, he should join naxals in the jungles as Delhi has no place for anarchy. He claimed that Mr Kejriwal is master dharnas and protests and should be given that role only. He said, power should be given to BJP which has mastery in administration. Mr Modi sought a clear mandate for his party to ensure all round development of the city.
Mr Modi also attacked the Congress-led UPA government for doing nothing in the national capital during its ten year long rule. He said, it is surprising that many important projects were pending for clearance for years, in the city.
Reacting to Mr Modi's allegations, Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, though Mr Modi is a powerful orator but he has only made promises. In a series of tweets, Mr Singhvi ruled out Mr Modi's charge that there was no development in the national capital during Congress' rule. He said, during the 15 years of the party's rule, it built flyovers, metro and made the city green.
Delhi, which is under President's Rule, is expected to have Assembly polls next month.
