Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gave away the National Bravery Awards to the 18 children at a function at his residence in New Delhi. The awardees include seven girls. Three of the awards were given posthumously. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said the act the bravery by the bravehearts will inspire other children. He said, such acts of bravery brings confidence among the children how to overcome difficult situations. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister said, many of the children who got these awards in the last four years are from rural and humble background. <br/><br/>The coveted Bharat Award was conferred onsixteen year old Kumari Nazia of Uttar Pradesh. <br/><br/>She showed courage in collecting evidence against the illegal business of gambling and betting and passed on information to the Police which led to the arrest of all the people involved in the racket.<br/><br/>The prestigious Geeta Chopra Award was given to 14-year old late Ms. Netrawati M. Chavan for saving two young boys from drowning.<br/><br/>16-year old Karanbeer Singh of Punjab was given Sanjay Chopra Award for displaying outstanding bravery and saving lives of 15 school children. <br/><br/>They will participate in the Republic Day Parade on Friday at the Rajpath. President Ram Nath Kovind will host a reception in their honour at rashtrapati Bhavan.
