<span style="color: #222222;">Prime Minister Narendra Modi today made a special reference to rain water harvesting project in the schools of Vadodara district. This is the first such project of the country covering all government schools of the district to preserve rain water during the monsoon. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that low cost rain water harvesting project in about 1000 schoolsin Vadodara conceived by Vadodara District Collector Shalini Agrawal, who faces the flood problems in the city as an in-charge Municipal Commissioner last year.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">One year project completed in just 9 months, covering 1000 Government schools of Vadodara district. Varsha Jal Nidhi project completed with the people's participation. One school will contribute 1 lakh litter water harvesting during the monsoon. Thus more than 10 crore litter rain water will be stored in the ground instead of waste. Apart from saving the rain water, this project will also teach water harvesting lessons to the school students.<br />'' <br />'' Speaking to AIR News, Principal of Sayajipura primary school in Vadodara, Mr Himanshu Bhai said, water harvesting initiative is a visionary programme and beneficial for future generations. He said, in the terrace of the new building of the school, rain water is collected and through pipe and filter tank, it goes to a 150 feet borewell. He said, 1.5 to 2 lakh liters of rainwater is being recharged every year.&nbsp;</span><br />
