Prime Minister Narendra Modi had meetings with EU ,Prime Ministers of United Kingdom and Japan ahead of G20 summit at Brisbane in Australia this evening. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged European Union to take advantage of the new economic environment in India .
In a bilateral meeting at Brisbane in Australia he assured European Union’s President Herman Van Rompuy that India will expedite the process of completion of Broad Based Investment and Trade Agreement with EU.
Modi said that India has allowed FDI in Railways and defence and there is a change of wind in India which will fasten decision making at the policy level. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told reporters after the meeting that top leaders of UK, Japan and EU supported India-US agreement on WTO regarding food security.
Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe hosted a dinner in the honour of Mr. Modi. Both the leaders exchanged views and stressed on strengthening bilateral economic ties. They also talked about ambitious bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai and development of Varanasi on Kyoto pattern.
Mr. Modi also discussed bilateral issues with British Prime Minister David Cameron. British Prime Minister David Cameron said that relations with India are at the top of the priorities of UK's foreign policy. Praising Modi for his inspiring vision the British Prime Minister said that Britain wants to partner with India in every possible way. Prime Minister also raised the issue that terrorism should not be linked with any religion.
Our correspondent reports that two day G20 summit will begin from tomorrow and the Brisbane city is all set to host the event. Brisbane city located on the bank on Brisbane river is decked with colourful lights to welcome top leaders of 19 countries and head of the EU.
Heart of Brisbane, CBD is beautifully decorated with different colours and dance and music events are being organized at various places in the city. Queensland administration has declared two days public holiday for the event and made tight security arrangements. Local people are participating as volunteers in organizing the mega event.
