Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena over a working dinner which he hosted in his honour at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed all issues of bilateral interest, in particular the problems being faced by Indian fishermen, the status of various economic projects being implemented by India and efforts to further increase trade and investment.<br/><br/>External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, both the leaders appreciated the meeting of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission led by two Foreign Ministers. Mr Modi also stressed on the need to develop a mechanism and find a permanent solution to the issue of fishermen straying into each other's waters.He appreciated Mr Sirisena's efforts to promote reconciliation in island nation so that all sections of Sri Lankan society can live with equality and dignity. <br/><br/>President Sirisena expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by India to Sri Lanka for various developmental projects being implemented by New Delhi. Mr Sirisena who arrived in New Delhi this afternoon on a two day working visit will leave for Ujjain tomorrow. Mr Modi will accompany him.
