Today is Kargil Vijay Diwas. This day is observed on 26 July every year in honour of the Kargil War Heroes.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying tributes to the martyrs. On the 16th Kargil Victory Day, Mr Modi said the day reminds of valor of Indian military and its supreme sacrifice. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and chiefs of armed forces paid tribute at the India Gate Amar Jawan Jyoti to the martyrs who gallantly laid down their lives for the nation in the 1999 Kargil conflict with Pakistan.<br/><br/>Mr Parrikar along with Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and deputy Chief of the Naval Staff laid a wreath at the memorial.
