PM Modi lays foundation stone of IARI at Gogamukh, Assam

In Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of the Indian Agriculture Research institute, at Gogamukh. Mr. Modi said that this is the foundation stone of not only an institution but a foundation to a changed North-east and India's future as a whole.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister speaking to a gathering of more than 80,000 people said that North East has high potential of becoming the world largest Organic Hub. He said India should not go for the 2nd Green revolution but for an Evergreen Revolution.<br/><br/>Mr. Modi on the occasion announced a new scheme for farmers known as "Sampadha" for agro product revolution with a total cost of Rs.6 thousand crore initially and would be open for Public private partnership and FDI later.<br/><br/>Mr. Modi said North east would be connected with India and the Future with five Paths, namely – Highway, Railway, Waterway, Airway and i-way, that is, Information way.<br/><br/>Mr. Modi said India has not only diverse language and dresses but diverse geography, climatic conditions where the way of cultivation, crops, fruits are different. So, keeping in view the speciality of of these regions, with proper scientific intervention and research government is trying to bring advancement to Indian Agriculture, he said.<br/><br/>He also said that central government in order to increase the productivity of soil has given top priority to soil health card for farmers. He said in these three years the soil health card labs have increased from 15 to 9000 across the country.<br/><br/>He also said the Central government has taken a number of steps for farmers' welfare in the last three years. In this context he mentioned the soil health cards, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. He also spoke about vast network of soil health laboratories being set up across the country besides his vision of doubling farmers' incomes by 2022. <br/><br/>On the occasion, Governor of Assam Banwarilal Purohit, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, Chief Minister Sarwananda Sonowal and other state Ministers were present.
