The expressway is 6-lane wide which can be expanded to 8-lane in future. Constructed at an estimated cost of about Rs 22500 crore, the Purvanchal Expressway is going to give a boost to the economic development of eastern part of Uttar Pradesh especially the districts of Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur. It was perhaps the first time that any Prime Minister landed directly on the air strip made on any expressway.<br />''<br />'' Thousands gathered to take a glimpse of the country's airpower in the spectacular show which  continued for 45 minutes. People of the region are excited to make a journey on the newly made expressway. Police vehicles, cattle catcher vehicles and ambulances will be deployed for safety and medical emergencies. 8 petrol stations and 4 CNG stations will be established at the expressway. Charging for electric vehicles will also start on the expressway. The journey on the expressway will be free for some days now.
