Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Nimoo Bazgo Hydroelectric Project .

He also laid foundation stone of Leh-Kargil-Srinagar transmission system which will connect the isolated region with the northern grid.

Mr. Modi arrived at Leh in Jammu and Kashmir this morning. He will also inaugurate 44 MW Chutuk hydro electric power project in Kargil district.

Both of these power projects run on the Indus River and are the major power projects in Ladakh region.

It will ensure stability and reliability of power in this cold desert region. Mr Modi is also scheduled to address public meeting in Leh and Kargil.

It is his first visit to this border area after becoming Prime Minister of the country.
