PM Modi inaugurates country's longest Cable Bridge on River Narmada in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated country's longest Cable Bridge on the River Narmada at Bharuch in Gujarat. This is the longest cable bridge in the country with a length of 1344 meter connecting Mumbai Delhi National Highway-8. Addressing the gathering, Mr Modi said, the central government has decided to convert 8 state highways of Gujarat into National Highways at the cost of 12, 000 crore rupees. He said, this will boost the infrastructure and tourism of the state and also the new road model will reduce the number of road accidents. <br/><br/>Mr Modi also laid the foundation stone of Bharauch Bus Port. He said, Bharatmala and Sagarmala projects will give a strong boost to port-led development. He called for a need to embrace new trends & technology keeping pace with changing time. He emphasized on building information ways along with highways. The Prime Minister said that from dams to drip irrigation, his government is working to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers. He said, work is happening at a much quicker pace in every sector since the NDA government assumed office.<br/><br/>Earlier, the Prime Minister also dedicated the Petrochemical complex of ONGC to the nation at Dehej in Gujarat. The plant set up with 27,000 crore rupees investment will have world class facilities of Polymer production. Addressing the gathering, Mr Modi said, the petrochemical sector is growing at a faster pace and has immense potential for employment generation. He said, the increasing use of Polymer product will substantially reduce the use of traditional products such as wood and help conserve natural resources. Mr. Modi stressed that no compromise can be done with the environment. He said, industrial development can be achieved with protection of environment. <br/><br/>Talking about demonetization, Mr Modi said, the recent number on India's GDP rate has cleared all the allegations against the move. Earlier he addressed BJP workers at the Surat Airport. As part of his two day visit to Gujarat, the Prime Minister will visit Somnath temple tomorrow, where he will offer special prayers and attend the meeting of the Somnath Temple Trust. Mr. Modi is the trustee of temple trust, of which former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel is the president. BJP president Amit Shah and senior party leader LK Advani will also attend the meeting of the temple trust. Later, the Prime Minister will address the national convention of women sarpanchs in Gandhinagar on the occasion of International Women's Day. Women sarpanch from different parts of the country will attend the event, which has been jointly organised by the Center and the Rural Development Department of Gujarat government.
