In Malkhed village of Kalburgi district in north Karnataka on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Banjara tandas as Revenue villages. He also launched the distribution of title deeds for the houses of the Banjara and Lambani communities. In total 52,072 title deeds were given to the community, living in over 3000 tandas in Kalburgi, Vijayapura, Yadgir and Raichur districts. Speaking on occasion, the Prime Minister said that the empowerment and welfare of the deprived sections of the society, may it be the communities from Scheduled Castes and Tribes, women and physically challenged, has been the priority of this government. Like the concept of 'Anubhava Mantapa' propagated by Saint Basaveshwara in the 12th Century, the double engine government at the Centre and the State is looking into the demands of all the communities, especially those belonging to the backward classes. <br />'' <br />'' The Prime Minister pointed out that the decision to convert tandas into revenue villages was taken in 1993 and since then all the previous governments deprived the community and made them wait for so long. By giving the revenue village status to the tandas of Banjaras, the inhabitants will now get basic infrastructure like water, electricity and toilets, houses under PM Awaas yojana, free ration, property cards under Swamitva, Ayushman card for free medical assistance, Jan Dhan account and mudra loan, Swanidhi loans for the street vendors and several welfare schemes for the women and youth of the deprived communities.<br />'' &nbsp;
