Prime Minister announced immediate financial assistance worth 325 crore rupees to cater to the requirements of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. <br/><br/>According to an official release, the financial assistance is over and above the assistance of 280 crore rupees to Tamil Nadu, and 76 crore rupees to Kerala, disbursed earlier this month, after Cyclone Ockhi. <br/><br/>The Centre will support the reconstruction of around 1400 houses fully damaged due to Cyclone Ockhi under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and each beneficiary will get upto 1.5 lakh rupees. Insurance companies have also been advised to pay the insurance claims of people affected by Ockhi cyclone expeditiously. <br/><br/>An ex-gratia assistance of 2 lakh rupees will be given to the next of kin of the deceased, and 50 thousand rupees to each of those seriously.
