Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced two new schemes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide 4% interest waiver on loan of up to Rs 9 lakh and of 3% on loan up to Rs 12 lakh for poor and middle class people. <br/><br/>Addressing the nation this evening, Mr Modi said there will 3% interest waiver on loan up to Rs 2 lakh for construction of houses in rural India. He said Government will pay interest for 60 days on loans taken by farmers for rabi season from district cooperative banks and primary societies.<br/><br/>Mr Modi said Government will stand guarantee for loans up to Rs 2 crore from current Rs 1 crore, to small businesses. He said banks have been asked to raise cash credit limit to small business to 25% from 20%. <br/><br/>Mr Modi said Rs 6,000 will be put into accounts of pregnant women in 650 districts for vaccination and other medical use. He said 8% interest rate will be guaranteed on deposits of up to Rs 7.5 lakh for 10 years for Senior Citizens and the interest will be paid monthly. <br/><br/>Speaking on demonetisation, Mr Modi said all concerned have been directed to restore normalcy in banking system, particularly in rural & far flung areas, to end difficulties of people. <br/><br/>He said 125 crore citizens have proved that for them truth & honesty are important despite inconveniences post demonetisation. Mr Modi said people had to queue to withdraw own money but they don't want to be even a step behind in fight against Corruption and Black Money. <br/><br/>He said Corruption, Black Money, and counterfeit Currency had crippled the common man. He said the fight against black money and corruption should not be stopped. Mr Modi asked the political parties to take steps to end black money in funding and corruption. <br/><br/>He also sought debate on holding Parliamentary and Assembly elections simultaneously and issue of rising costs in polls.
