PM Modi addresses National Convention of Women Sarpanch

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the women who have been honored have shattered so many myths and have shown how a positive change has begun in rural India. He was addressing over 6000 women sarpanch at the National Convention of Women Sarpanch- swachh shakti 2017 today at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.<br/><br/>PM asked women sarpanch to take leadership to ensure 100 percent education and immunization in their villages. He further said we should invigorate our villages with technology. The change it would bring is phenomenal. Emphasizing on the importance of cleanliness, PM said the poor gain the most out of cleanliness. PM said Swachhta has to be become our Sadbhav. <br/><br/>PM felicitated 10 women Swachhgrahis including some women sarpanch who have immensely contributed to the Swachh Bharat movement. He also presented awards to women achievers of Gujarat on the occasion. PM said female feticide cannot be allowed to take place and urged women sarpanch to show way in ending female feticide in their villages. He said with the mantra of beti bachao beti padhao, we should bring about a big change in the society. <br/><br/>The National Convention-Swachh Shakti 2017 has been jointly organised by the Centre and the Rural Development Department of Gujarat government.<br/><br/>Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan also addressed the women sarpanchs on the occasion. Earlier today, Pm addressed a felicitation function in Diu. Prime Minister Modi also attended Somnath temple trust meeting as a trustee of the Temple Trust.
