Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of a book fair organized by Navbharat Sahitya Mandir in Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister said, books and scripture are the basic elements for the perusal of knowledge. He said, one of the aspects of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' is to revive our history and pass on the same to our younger generation.<br />''<br />''Mr. Modi said, book fairs play a vital role in creating interest among the children about books. He added that books open up our thinking and help us to think in different aspects. The Prime Minister said, in the era of the internet, people are highly dependent on technology for any information. Technology is undoubtedly one of the tools to gain information, but it can't replace books, he added.<br />''<br />''Highlighting the long-standing tradition of libraries in Gujarat, Mr. Modi recalled Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaikawad of Vadodara, who set up a large number of libraries at various places in his region. He also urged people of Gujarat to reserve a corner for books in their homes.<br />''<br />''The book fair title, 'Kalamno Carnival' has been organized by Navbharat Sahitya Mandir in Ahmedabad.
