PM Manmohan-US Prez Obama to discuss host of issues during their meeting

When Dr Manmohan Singh and Barrack Obama meet for their one to one at Blair house in Washington they will have their hands full with a host of issues on the table.

For India the issue of nukes falling in the hands of terrorists groups in Pakistan, Islamabad’s reluctance to dismantle terror infrastructure on their soil as well as action against those behind Mumbai terror attack are areas of continued concern and India would want US to consider all these factors before providing military aid to Pakistan. Then there is also the issue of access to let operative Headley.

Although India and US are on the same as page as far as the objective of bringing stability to Afghanistan goes, they may not be seeing eye to on how to go about it, and India would want the US to be sensitive to its legitimate concern with regard to the perception that Pakistan may have a bigger role to play in the reconciliation process with the Taleban.

On Iran India is not in favour of sanctions as they ultimately hurt the people. But that not all the meeting will provide them with an opportunity to share their update on taken at their last meeting and ofcourse Obama’s visit to India later this year .
