PM leaves US for Port of Spain to attend CHOGM Summit

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh concluded his four day visit to United States today and left for Port of Spain to attend the CHOGM Summit. He was given a ceremonial send off at the Saint Andrews airbase in Washington.<br/><br/>During his visit, various agreements and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were singed between the two countries. Among the highlights include the unveiling of Obama-Singh Knowledge Initiative and the Prime Minister being accorded the honour of the first foreign dignitary to be hosted by President Obama as the first State Guest at White House .<br/><br/>AIR correspondents S. Mathias and R.K. Raina report that the visit will be remembered for many things – the agreement with USA on counter terrorism, defence, energy, agriculture, health, the Obama Singh knowledge initiative, the civil nuclear cooperation and the first state banquet of the Obama Presidency among other things.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister described it all when he told the Indian community in America that Indo – US relationship will see a new emphasis on five Es – economy, energy, environment, education and empowerment. The meeting of minds between the largest and the oldest democracies in the world on eliminating terrorism may well become the defining partnership of the 21st century.<br/>
