PM leaves for Russia tomorrow

Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh accompanied by a high level delegation is arriving Moscow tomorrow for annual summit with Russian President Dmitry Mededev on December 16.

The annual Summit is expected to impart a fresh momentum to the special, privileged strategic partnership between the two time tested partners with a signing of agreements in areas ranging from nuclear energy to economic co-operation, space, hydrocarbons, trade and education.

Mededev will head the Russian side at the Summit which is the first big event taking place in Russia after the Duma polls. Dr. Singh will hold talks with President Mededev in restricted and expanded formats, at which global issues will be discussed, bilateral ties reviewed and guidance provided for future engagements.

AIR correspondent reports that Dr. Singh will also hold discussions with Prime Minister Vladmir Putin at the White House in Moscow.

While the stage is set for the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and President Dmitry Mededev Summit, Defence, Civil Nuclear Energy Global Climate Changes, Terrorism, bilateral trade etc are the issues likely to be at the Centre of discussions at the Summit level meeting between the two leaders.

All eyes are on the visit of the Prime Minister to Moscow which is taking place at a time when Moscow is reeling under Sub-Zero temperature. But the warmth in ties between the two countries is all visible in Moscow with red carpet welcome awaiting Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
