PM leaves for New York today to attend UNGA

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh leaves on a five-day visit to New York today to participate in the United Nations General Assembly. India will focus on a number of issues including reforms of the UN Security Council, ways to resolve the continuing global economic uncertainties, counter terrorism and policy action for attaining Millennium Development Goals during the session. Dr. Singh will address the UN General Assembly on September 24. India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Hardip Singh Puri said that the Dr Singh's address to the General Assembly is likely to focus on issues which are dear to India. AIR correspondent accompanying the Prime Minister reports that Dr. Singh will have bilateral meetings with several head-of-states and governments during his stay in New York.
